A Small but Meaningful Change

Something about summer makes me take stock of my life.  Where things are, how they are going, what could be better, easier, simpler.  I think it is all the fresh air, it is rejuvinating and makes all things seem possible.

One thing I have been working on is to limit the Energy Vampires in my life.  You know, the ones that suck the spark out of you?  Who can put a negative spin on everything?  Who NEVER want to see the bright side?  I get it, everyone has those days where they just want to complain and mope.  I have those days too.  It is not easy to be a perpetually positive person.

But it is not easy being around Energy Vampires either.  I seem very susceptible to this phenomenon and it really drags my energy down, making me not want to do things and just generally feeling really negative.

So.  My solution?

  • Limit the time spent with Energy Vampires.
  • Don't let other peoples energy take over or overly influence my own.
  • Drink more water (ok, and gin)
  • Try to get some more steps in.  I have been feeling so good since I started my Fitbit routine!
  • Laugh, and find people who laugh at the same things.
  • Set boundaries.
Easier said than done.  But today is as good a day as any.

  1. It is not easy to be a perpetually positive person, nor is it easy to SAY perpetually positive person :)

I'm with you on so much of this. Here's to controlling what we can control, and surrounding ourselves with people who drink gin and gingers!
